“Nikos Katsaros is the Digital Design and Concept Team Lead at Smart Silicon, where he brings deep expertise in digital hardware design to define cutting-edge automotive IP concepts and architectures. Prior to joining Smart Silicon, Nikos contributed to high-end ASIC and FPGA development for automotive and wireless communication systems at leading technology companies including U-blox and Qualcomm. His areas of specialization include digital hardware design, formal verification, system modeling, and low-power, high-efficiency computing.
He also has a strong background in firmware development for embedded systems and performance evaluation using bit-true models and algorithmic optimizations.
Nikos holds an Integrated Master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Thessaly, where he also served as a teaching assistant. He is proficient in Verilog/SystemVerilog, C/C++, Python, and MATLAB, and has extensive experience with industry-standard hardware development tools.
Among his achievements is a first place award in the Xilinx Open Hardware Contest for a real-time hardware implementation of the HOG algorithm, demonstrating his strength in hardware acceleration and innovation.
