“Achillefs Bakirtzis is the Founder and Managing Director of Smart Silicon, a boutique ASIC design and verification services firm based in Europe. Since founding the company in 2021, he has led its growth into a high-performing engineering team that partners with global clients to deliver complex silicon solutions—from concept and architecture to RTL design, formal verification, and behavioral modeling.
Achillefs brings over a decade of experience in digital and mixed-signal IC design, with a strong background in automotive and wireless system-on-chip development. Prior to founding Smart Silicon, he held senior roles at Infineon Technologies, Intel Mobile Communications, and Imagination Technologies, where he led teams delivering automotive-grade SoCs, motor control and power management ICs, and wireless communication platforms.
He is highly experienced in functional and formal verification (UVM, SVA), low-power RTL design, digital-mixed signal integration, and IP development for safety-critical applications. His leadership style blends technical rigor with operational agility—fostering a culture of engineering excellence, knowledge sharing, and results-driven execution.
Achillefs holds a Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and completed his thesis at EPFL, Switzerland. He has also studied as an exchange student at TU Eindhoven and speaks five languages, including English, French, and Greek.
